Sunbed Use Safety Guide
Please read the following important guidelines prior to using a domestic sunbed:
- Do not use an electrical extension with your sunbed. The unit must be plugged directly into a mains power socket.
- Always remember to unplug the sunbed after use.
- Adjust the top canopy to a position with which you are comfortable. Ideally, the unit should be positioned 3 to 9 inches away from the body.
- To avoid over exposure, always set an alarm clock of your own as a back up, just in case you fall asleep under the sunbed or the sunbed timer fails.
- Remove all jewellery and make up prior to using the sunbed.
- Take a warm shower if possible before using the sunbed to remove all cosmetics, perfumes, skin creams and lotions, as these types of products can increase skin sensitivity to ultraviolet light. Ideally you should refrain from using these products during the course of treatment, since they are not necessarily removed by washing.
- Suntanning preparations should not be used prior to using the sunbed, as these may also increase the sensitivity of the skin to ultraviolet light.
- Use your protective goggles at all times. It is insufficient simply to close the eyes or use cotton wool or sunglasses.
- Change your position frequently to relieve pressure points.
- After use, shower if possible and use a moisturising lotion to prevent dryness of the skin.
- Allow a period of at least 24 hours between the next and each subsequent exposure.
- Do not use the sunbed for at least 24 hours after waxing (hair removal).
